One of the first Questions you should ask any DJ company that you are considering is do they have liability insurance and can they provide you with proof.
Why is this important? The main reason is that most wedding venues will require that any DJ working on their property have their own insurance. If they don’t they don’t they will not be allowed to work on the property. This has generally has always been the case but in the past most venues did not enforce or check for proof. In the last year, I have seen more and more properties requiring proof on a per event basis and some will ask that their location be added on to the policy.
Why you need to get proof? I recently got called from a frantic bride on the day of her wedding asking me if i was available and if i had insurance. Apparently she had booked a DJ that claimed to have insurance. When the DJ company showed up at the venue and could not provide proof the DJ company was not allowed to work.
Getting proof of insurance will insure you are working with an honest DJ and professional DJ.
